WELCOME
Roots of Appalachia Growers
Association (RAGA), established in 2000 with the help of Rural Action, is a nonprofit
organization of medicinal herb growers. We are based in the foothills of Southern
Ohio with membership reaching into other areas of Appalachia. We are a support network
for growers, providing a wealth of information about how to grow, market and prevent
poaching of ginseng and other woodland medicinals. RAGA also educates the public
so they understand the value of growing these threatened herbs.

OUR
MISSION
The Roots of Appalachia Growers Association is a non-profit organization,
formed to Encourage, Educate, and Support the Growers of Medicinal Herbs.

Confidentiality/Security
Grower
confidentiality is among our top priorities. We understand the need
because we have the same need. Until wildcrafters understand that these
roots are intentionally being cultivated, we will have an up hill
battle.
Education
Because of the mindset of agriculture being conducted only in fields,
people often
believe it is ok to dig these herbs if they are "found" in the woods.
RAGA actively seeks to change this type of thinking through education
on many different levels.
Cooperation
RAGA is made up of growers with a broad range of experience with
herbs. Gathering together collectively, all members benefit from
knowledge that would not be gained individually. By sharing pertinent
information with one another, members gain insight into better growing
practices.
