Because there is a huge demand for many of Appalachia's woodland herbs, there has been over-harvesting of some of these plants. Rather than losing these herbs and the vital role they play in the ecosystem, we hope to reverse that trend through the development of organic woodland cultivation practices. RAGA was formed to help growers learn how to best grow these herbs and how to develop their operations into businesses.
RAGA meets quarterly with a host of topics that are of interest to growers. Some of these include:
· Organic growing techniques
· Washing & drying roots for quality
· Disease detection and prevention
· Confidentiality & poaching issues
· Recent legislation
· Value-added products
We are people from all walks of life. People like you.
